Oberon High School aims to provide all students with experiences which will:
Academic:

- Lead to the development of skills in:
- Literacy and oracy so students can read, spell, write and communicate.
- Numeracy so students can use mathematical skills to solve problems.
- Research and investigation so students can discover information by experiment and the use of resources.
- Reasoning so students can make informed decisions.
- Self discipline so students can recognise their own responsibility for study.
Personal Self-Esteem:
- Enhance a positive attitude, self-image and self esteem.
- Enhance individuality.
- Enable each student to strive to achieve to the best of his/her ability.
Development of Social Skills:
- Enable students to develop values on which to structure their lives.
- Develop a tolerance and respect for other people and different points of view
- Provide an awareness of social and community issues.
- Enhance self-discipline
- Allow understanding and acceptance of the need for rules/laws.
- Develop the ability to relate socially with the community and their peers.
- Develop knowledge of themselves and responsibilities towards others.
Beyond School:
- Prepare students for the transition from school to the workforce and/or further education
- Enable students to deal with the problems of everyday living.
Resources:
- Enable students to effectively use the resources available to the school, both human and material.
Leisure / Culture:
- Develop a wide range of academic and sporting interests
- Encourage participation in leisure activities catering for individual differences.
- Increase appreciation of the visual and performing arts.
